Quentin Davis class of 2006
Yes
it's true....Quentin Davis, Class of 2006 had the opportunity to sing
at the famous Apollo Theater in New York City on June 30, 2010. Long
before there was an America's Got Talent or an American Idol, the Apollo
Theater gave young vocalists the opportunity to showcase their talent.
The judges and audiences are still quick to let the performers know
where they stand before they are chosen as finalists. Quentin said the
experience "made me bring my "A" game" and it paid off. Quentin took
second place on Amateur Night and you can see a snippet of his
performance at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEy66BJpLKc.
He eventually went back to the Apollo to try his luck again but did
not place. Quentin also tried out on the network competition X Factor
and placed 250 out of 7000 contestants. All of these opportunities
opened a lot of doors for him, including meeting his manager. He
booked Quentin at B.B. King's Blues Club in Manhattan where he sang
back-up for the band Love Assassins.
While
Quentin was waiting for his big break at home in Somerset NJ, he made
the decision to serve his country. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines
Corps and is scheduled to go to boot camp on Paris Island on November
11th.
His
journey since graduation has taken Quentin several places including
enrollment at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City to
selling Yankee souvenirs outside the stadium. His message to alumni is
"don't give up." Quentin said that he is already thinking about trying
out again for X Factor.
We wish you the best of luck with your singing career, Quentin and Godspeed as your enter the Marine Corps.
