The Kateri students are completing a Service Learning project in conjunction with the our neighborhood food store, The Food Emporium as well as the Food Bank of Monmouth County (Fulfill). The students have created and established a non perishable food collection basket at the Food Emporium. The Managers at the Food Emporium have been wonderful in working with our program. The students collect items customers have donated for the Food Bank on a weekly basis. The students then deliver the items to the Food Bank where they are welcomed by the Food Bank volunteers.

The Food Bank welcomes the donations and made note of the fact that often they have plenty of donated items for Thanksgiving but later in the year the supply dwindles. We will try to address this concern with this project though out the year.

The students have taken pride in this project and were so impressed with the generosity of the Food Emporium customers and management.

If you visit the Food Emporium you will see our box as you exit the store--donations are welcome!
