Collier High School Kateri Campus

Kateri Campus Building

Collier High School offers a specialized program designed to meet the needs of our students who benefit from a smaller environment with emphasis on individualized support.  Situated at the Kateri Environmental Center the program offers ample opportunity for academic achievement and creativity surrounded by the natural beauty of our open campus.   Adventure-based learning activities are offered within the classroom and beyond. The Kateri Program promotes student success in every way. The learning environment is designed to foster focus and concentration.  Additional supportive services supplement the academic curriculum. These integrated services include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, and social skill group.

Students enjoy a ratio of 1 teacher per maximum of 5 students. The space is designed to promote focus and attention on core subject areas taught by skilled, certified secondary level teachers.  Instruction is based upon student ability. Course work is designed to provide a student with the requirements for post-secondary education.

In the afternoon students complete 21st Century Career Exploration and Personal Finance. Students participate in several service learning projects as an integral part of this course.  This includes: assisting at a rescue horse farm, maintaining a section of the Henry Hudson trail, working at a food pantry, as well as various short term community-based projects.

Collier High School’s Kateri campus is perfect for students who may need:

  • Assistance with focus and concentration
  • Smaller teacher to student ratio
  • Continuous incentives and behavioral support
  • A calm cohesive environment with fewer transitions
  • Social skill development
  • Service Learning opportunities
  • Occupational and Speech services
  • Project-based learning strategies
  • Extended School Year Program

Students are integrated into the main campus for course work, sports and clubs based upon individual interest and need.  The Kateri Program is not a self-contained program and is intended for students who may want to transition to the main campus or to the world of work. Collier’s Kateri campus works closely with sending school districts in order to meet the needs of a student’s Individualized Education Plan.
